I started in the health and fitness industry,
Initially, I got a job as a lifeguard in the old Coventry racquet centre as it opened as a fancy health club. By the time the first members worked through the door I was working the gym floor too.
My degree was in exercise physiology and biomechanics and that gave me a good knowledge base to move across, when I finished my degree I went full time before taking over the personal training team.
Last week, I was speaking about neuro-diversity and that ADHDers commonly flit from job to job but I’m still doing the same 30 years later. She pointed out that I’ve done pretty much every job in the industry and I have multiple roles in my own business that keep me stimulated.
I’m a martial arts instructor, a personal trainer who advises on nutrition and supplements, an injury therapist who focuses on finding the cause of the problem rather than the symptoms, I use acupuncture and dry needling, acupressure, assisted stretching, write gym programme for clients. All that on top of the actual business side of running a business.
Doing all of those roles over the past three decades has given me a great insight in to what actually works and what is pointless.
To get me back in to writing these messages again, over the next couple of weeks I’ll go back over the basic things we need to get right to achieve results before worrying about all the optional extras social media tries to tell us are vital.
