I’ve always been a fan of surrounding yourself with people who inspire you, hold you accountable or simply “get” you.
That may have bit me in the ass.
In September, I’m due to do the Welsh 3000’s with a couple of friends. It’s a 35ish mile hike over the 15 highest peaks of Snowdonia.
However, we might get a chance to go down to Exmouth for a little break and we love it there as a family.
To not miss out on a hike, I suggested a 50 miler along the Jurassic Coast as in my head it’s not as bumpy; it really is though just a different sort of bumpy.
My friend then suggested that we add an extra 12 miles to make it 100km.
I’ve worked on my ability to say NO but it doesn’t seem to work on things that excite me.
We’re both pretty fit but that distance is way beyond where I am now, that bit excited me too. A real reason to put the work in.
By the evening, with very little encouragement or resistance from each other. It may now have become a monster 120 mile event next June.
The point of this message?
If you want to get fitter, hang out with people who value fitness.
If you want to improve your diet, hang out with people who cook and eat well.
You may need a little guidance on your way, we. Can help with that.
