Baby, keep a little two for me 🎶

You might recognise the lyrics to the Beautiful South song “Perfect 10”.

The theme of the song is that love comes in all shapes and sizes, we all have our preferences and there is no need to settle.

It follows on from my message yesterday about being you, it has also been part of a few conversations this week.

“I’ll be happier when I’m a size …”

”I’ll be ready to date when I fit in my jeans”.

Having a little target to change your shape isn’t my issue, although basing your readiness to be happy or in a relationship shouldn’t come down to size or shape.

My issue is actually more practical and aimed at the fashion world.

If you’re working towards a size 12, there is a caveat “which shop / designer”?

Next 12 is very different to a Karen Millen 12 which is way off a supermarket 12.

It’s the same but different for men.

A few years ago, I bought a suit from M&S.  The regular fit jacket that fit my shoulders had extra room cut in for a belly, the slim fit wouldn’t get around my arms and I’m not exactly “Hench”.

There have been times that I’ve been great full for the extra belly room and times when it’s been on the tight side. I’m back to the baggy around the waist again after getting a grip during the first few months of the pandemic and being pretty consistent since.

I have a standard fit Hugo Boss shirt that is cut smaller than my Next Slim Fit, I am far from slim. The clothing companies are playing on emotions of wanting to be in a different size / shape to be happy.

Be Happy.

Be as happy at size 18 as you think you will be at size 12.  The label in your clothes won’t change how you feel, that is down to you.

When you become comfortable with who you are, you’ll find that the results are easier to attain.

Training to perform better in life and improving your health and fitness can do wonders for your confidence. In turn, you will find that you may change what happy means, the type of person you want to date, the list is endless.

Eat well and exercise for you because YOU are the most important person in your life.
