One of the biggest mistakes I feel people are making with their health goals is combining diet and exercise.
They are both vitally important in the big picture of your health.
However, too many of us use exercise as a way of trying to counteract poor food choices.
In your teens and early 20’s you stand a chance because you can recover quickly enough from beasting sessions. As we get older it’s simply not possible for the majority.
You should eat to fuel your body and improve your health.
You should exercise to improve your fitness and vitality so you can continue to do the things you want to enjoy for as long as you want to enjoy them.
I’m all for a treat as you know but I’m not going to beast myself as punishment because I’ve had a cheesecake.
It would be futile, even when taking generous estimates for how much energy you have used.
My Garmin tends to be generous when calculating calories, this morning I did a little run with a friend – Garmin said I burnt 265 calories, my Whoop said 105. A mobility session this afternoon had 100 difference for Garmin too.
If I ate according to my watch I would wonder why my results were stagnant.
And that all depends on how accurately you record intake too.
Weighing your food is a pain but might be necessary for a couple of weeks to ensure you know your numbers and can plan accordingly.
If you need any help, we can help with that.
