Have you set yourself up to fail with a strict regime of exercise and diet?
Did you plan on hitting the gym 4 times per week with a couple of swims and a run on top?
Only eating carbs on Thursdays, 22 portions of veggies per day and cooking everything from scratch when your kids only eat chicken nuggets and chips?
Give yourself a break.
Consistent good is way better long term than inconsistent perfect.
Some days will go to plan, you’ll wake up feeling amazing, leap out of bed and be ready for the world and whatever it may throw at you.
Other days, you might struggle to peel your mouth of your pillow and wonder why your body is feeling like it’s 40 years older than it is.
You have to roll with the punches. Have some flexibility in your plan that if you miss a session, it doesn’t make a big difference to the big picture and you don’t feel like binning the whole week off to start again next Monday.
Sometimes a 100% diet is easier to follow because you simply have to follow the rules, I actually like that type for me, I tend to go way off if I have some leniency. I’m actually trying to be easier on myself though and learn to control the waves a little.
Simply tracking what I’m eating is helpin with that, I’ve had an annoying cough this week which has affected my sleep, meaning my body is searching out easier sources of calories. Thankfully, Fran is feeling great and has been cooking up a storm meaning good choices are put in front of me.
I also send a couple of friends my food diary at the end of each day to keep me accountable.
If you are following a strict plan and you’re nailing it, that’s brilliant, keep with it.
If you haven’t managed to complete a full day cycle, it’s probably not for you and you need to review what you’re doing. Get in touch if you need a little guidance.
