Don’t worry this isn’t a message about the use of Covid face masks, although I’m getting used to wearing one now in my therapy room.
It’s about the importance of putting yourself first.
When the cabin crew go through their safety talk at the start of the flight, they explain that if for any reason the oxygen masks drop down you should put your own one on first before helping anybody else.
Too often are we guilty at putting others thoughts and feelings above our own. Particularly if you have children but it isn’t exclusive to parents.
We all do it / have done it. Stayed in relationships that were over to avoid hurting the other person. Been constantly exhausted and not taking a nap or going to bed early.
We should really take the airline approach and make sure that we are personally okay first. When you are constantly putting your own thoughts, feelings and health in second place; you are constantly telling your brain that you are not as important as the other person / thing.
You are!
If you don’t put yourself first and prioritise your own health, both physical and mental, you will ultimately start to suffer. You will be a lesser version of yourself.
By being selfish, in a good way and prioritising yourself, you get to be the best version of yourself.
That means that everyone around you gets to experience the best version of you.
Our aim at Team Achieve, is to help all of our members feel great about themselves. Predominantly through the medium of fitness training, nutrition and some mindset coaching.
It’s time to start prioritising the most important person in your life. That’s you.
