Yesterday, I wrote about being strong enough to be weak / vulnerable from a mental health perspective.
Today, I want to write about being physically strong.
We don’t need to be Atlas and lift the globe / sky for eternity. We do need to have full use of our bodies though.
I meet so many people who haven’t got the ability to squat down with there bum below knee height, due to a combination of mobility issues and weakness in the glutes and legs in general.
Upper body strength is even worse. We see films where normal people can dangle from a ledge with one hand while lifting their love interest up with the other.
In reality, we’ve dropped them and us after 2 or 3 seconds.
We can’t get single arm pull up or pull a lorry strong in the next 24 days, we can improve the way our body functions and our ability to hang on a bar / pull up, press up and squat.
Having the ability to get up and down off the floor without groaning and moaning will make a massive difference to your quality of life.
Which gives us the exercise for tomorrow’s challenge; a 10 minute brisk walk or a jog followed by the following:
Squat down to put your hands on the floor, step or jump your legs back, do a press up to get down to rest your body on the floor for a second, do a press up, step or jump your feet back in, stand up, squat back down as far as you can then put your bum on the floor and lie back, rest with your back on the floor for one second then stand back up. That counts as 1.
Essentially, lie on your belly, stand up, lie on your back, stand up.
Do 5, rest for 1 minute, do 5 more and repeat until you have done 20 in total.
If you need more rest between, take it, if you don’t feel like you need a rest, don’t have one.
Let me know how you get on.
