Today is Thanks Giving in the USA, as American traditions go, it’s the one I think the most of.
Obviously, in the US it revolves around eating a shed load of food involving pumpkins and getting ready for the Black Friday sales but the sentiment is there.
Every morning in my journal I write down someone I can send a note, gift or just show appreciation to, most of the time it is Fran. I’ve written before about how that sometimes feels lazy to me but she enhances the life of me and our kids.
She makes our lives run more smoothly and provides the love and support for our family to thrive.
I am truly grateful for that.
Thanks giving should be a time of gratitude and appreciation rather than setting up one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year.
I’m blessed to have some amazing friends in my life, when I see them they know I appreciate them.
My best mate Graham was round earlier and when he left K asked why I always tell him I love him “because I do” was the answer that satisfied her curiosity.
On the flip side of that, I’m also an out sight out of mind person, so not that great at maintaining regular contact with my friends that I don’t see regularly. I’m pretty sure that they know I’d be there in a heart beat if they ever needed me though.
We constantly try to help our kids appreciate the things they have in life, from things to opportunities to see a beautiful sunrise or morning moon. I’m sure they think I’ve gone mad when I pick them up to take them into the garden to look at the sky 🙂
I’ve been a things person in the past and it didn’t make me happy. I now try to focus on experiences and feel much better as a person as a result. I still like shiny new things but rarely pick them as an option over doing something fun.
Thank you for taking the time to read these messages each day, getting this stuff out of my head helps me immensely.
Tomorrow’s challenge is back to fitness.
20 seconds move forwards as fast as you can, be it a sprint, run, jog or fast walk. 40 seconds walk slowly but with long strides. Repeat x 10. Make sure you warm up well before hand and have a 5-10 minute walk at the end.
Bonus challenge for today – let somebody know you appreciate them.
Who / what are you grateful for?
