Although, I have been partial to a little twerk 😉
Thank you for all of the kind messages and support from the news regarding my face surgery. It’s healing well and I’m doing the best I can to follow the advice of keeping my face upright during this first week.
At no point have I nearly done a monkey roll or cartwheel, I’m grateful to my students that stopped me and reminded me.
Gratitude is something that I think I’m pretty good at but recently noticed I was getting a little moodier with the kids than usual. Sleep hasn’t been great with a lot of wiggling and very early starts and that also has an affect on mood.
If we didn’t have kids my sleep might be better but then we wouldn’t have kids and that’s not a world I want to be in. I’m grateful that we got the opportunity to adopt and take our kids on, if that leads to some sleep deprivation, I have to accept that and take other steps for recovery.
The tweak I’ve made is to my morning routine, I haven’t got a complicated one with loads of steps.
I wake up get on the shakti mat for 10-15 minutes, I find it helps free up my lower back and neck.
Do my journal.
Do some movement or get in the cold bath.
I wanted to add a few minutes of gratitude in to my morning, so I simply go through the things that I’m most grateful for while on the mat. I tried while in the cold bath but have to focus on my breathing and get distracted.
Fran and the kids might not agree but I think as a result of doing so, I’m appreciating them more and making an effort not to kick off.
Is there a space in your day where you could focus on gratitude and appreciation of the things you have?
