I very rarely watch the news, I choose to avoid it.
I like to focus on the positive aspects of life and the news and media tend to focus on everything but that.
However, I was at my Mum’s for a cup of tea this afternoon when it was on. One of the reports was about a radio host who had called Tilly Ramsay off Strictly and Gordon Ramsay “Chubby”.
They showed a picture of him and he is chubby and looks unwell.
I’ve seen this type of thing happen a lot in the fitness industry over the past 25 years; people who feel threatened that somebody they feel they are better than, doing something that they feel they can’t do.
The result, attack them. Attacking somebody is easier than ever, social media and main stream media thrive on it.
We’ve had Be Kind campaigns, mental health awareness days, weeks, months and the base level for the insecure is still attack when they feel exposed.
Something else that is easier than ever because of social and main stream media access is praise.
Why knock somebody down when we can build them up, build enough people up and we all gain height and momentum. The World becomes a better place and we all thrive.
I’ve really enjoyed watching Tilly on Strictly, she has performed really well and seems really fun.
A positive young female role model is something we should be looking to promote, somebody who is going out and trying, putting the work in and taking the judges praise and criticism and using it to improve.
Like my Mum used to say “say something nice or nothing at all”, she’s Irish so there were some swear words in there too 🙂

P.S. The picture is of Ted, my sisters dog, going full little man syndrome and feeling threatened by the NHS display at Combe Abbey this morning.
