Ooops, it’s been a while since I last wrote some ramblings, pretty much 2 months.
I actually didn’t mean to take a break, I had a really busy couple of weeks where I didn’t prioritise writing and then the habit slipped away. I wrote in my journal that I as going to and then forget because I hadn’t scheduled the time in to do it.
The same happens with food choices and exercise, we wait for the perfect time or day to get back on plan rather than just getting back on plan.
Having a meal planner or simply writing a time in your diary to do some exercise or have a walk can keep you on track.
My training partner is about to go on holiday for nearly a month, I don’t strength train when he doesn’t come over. I don’t want to lose the progress I’ve made over the past 6 months so I’ve set myself a challenge to do 12 strength sessions in the gym while he’s away.
My brain likes a fixed number to aim at and I can easily fit it in time wise as the gym is in our garage. Obviously, there’s a chance I’ll do 12 sessions in the final 12 days but I’ll still get them done.
If you wanted to work on building new habits, now is a good time as we’re generally out of routine with the school holiday chaos.
My advice is not to wait for the perfect time and just get started.
It could be extra salad with your meals or getting out before the heat is too much for a walk. Don’t complicate it or wait for the planets to align.
