The excitement level has been high in our house today.

K & A knew that some presents were being dropped off by friends and family; they’ve been really good this year and haven’t opened anything yet.

Apparently, one of the parcels did fall off the table and Barbie took a peak inside 🙂

The excitement had nothing to do with the presents though.

My mates Mum makes us a Christmas cake every year and I picked it up on Monday, it tastes amazing.  She found out that I’m the only one who eats it and made the kids a Yule log, which looks amazing.

Still not what the excitement was about.

She called to tell me that she had some mince pies in the oven with my name on them.  Some injury therapy clients needed to switch their times around which meant I didn’t get one fresh from the oven.

I did get excited when Joan’s face popped up on my doorbell app because I knew I was going to get one today.

Her mince pies are amazing; a nice crisp top with a dusting of icing sugar.

To clarify, if you’re going to have a treat; have the best quality and nicest tasting treat you can.  Just don’t take the p1ss and eat them all at once (remember, I often write these statements as a message to myself).

Food is to be enjoyed, some choices work better than others but the enjoyment is critical.

I told a client to buy real sized chocolate bars last week instead of tins of celebrations and heroes.  3-4 of those tiny things adds up to the same amount of calories as a full bar.

Who can stop at only 4, they don’t satisfy the urge for a treat so you keep going.  A full bar is a different experience.

This certainly isn’t the time of year to worry about your diet but that doesn’t mean you have to do all of the work you’ve done.

Savour the treats you have, go home made or premium if you can and have a little less.
