Unlike most people, I started my “proper” New Year yesterday rather than waiting for today.
It got off to a great start, and early one as always but I used the time to give Fran some extra time in bed and get my journal started. I interacted with my accountability group, had a nice breakfast, went for a walk to assess how frozen the canal was and film a little content for A’s new YouTube channel.
I picked Nannie’s and Nan up to come to ours for Sunday Lunch, which they both enjoyed, got them home and came back to watch a the end of a film we started.
The plan was to then let Fran deal with the kids night time routine while I made some sourdough bread, write one of these messages and finish off with an early night and completing my journal.
Best laid plans and all that.
As the film finished I checked my phone to see the care team at my Mum’s place had called, she’d had a fall. I went straight round and the paramedics said they would like her to go for an x-ray on her ribs.
We discussed venues and I thought driving to Rugby was the best option, unfortunately, Rugby did not agree. We drove back and checked in to UHCW.
They were brilliant but super busy.
The short version is she has a broken rib and a few bruised ones. I got home at 7am this morning.
No email.
No Sourdough.
No early night or evening review in my journal.
I went straight to bed for a few hours and got up to the kids being full steam ahead about going out in the dusting of snow.
No morning journal this morning.
My plan for today was to watch a training on setting this next quarters goals before bed, I think the chance of my eyes remaining open are minimal.
I will complete this evenings journal. In most of life, just moving forward is enough, we can’t worry about everything being perfect.
I’ll catch up on the training during the week. I did manage to run through my quarterly goal ideas while sat in a waiting room for nearly 11 hours, then my phone ran out 🤦♂️
If you planned on starting your plans today and fell at the first hurdle, review what happened and carry on immediately no need to wait for a fresh day.
If you need to review the hurdle multiple times this week, maybe you have the wrong goal. We can help you work out the best options for you to achieve success.
