We had an amazing week in West Wales last week.

It was forecast to rain every day, yet our children appear to be some form of sun god for Wales and we had clear skies most days; only a few hours of rain in total.

Which meant we got to go down to the beach every day and have a sea dip.  Watching A’s confidence in rough waves makes me so proud of how far he has come.

I started journaling before we went to get me back on track with life really.  I didn’t journal every morning while we were away, my morning journal is more about planning the day and what tasks need to be completed to achieve my longer term goals.

However, I completed my journal every night.  The night time section is mainly a review of the day and recording wins for the day.

My coach talks about minimum effective dose – the minimum you can do to move forward.

We all plan our perfect day / week / diet / training plan and if something scuppers us early in the routine, we can think we’ve failed and blank the whole lot to start again the following week.
Having a minimum effective dose prevents / reduces the need for perfect.
I knew I wasn’t going to get any strength training in while we were on holiday but made sure that I got out for a few big walks and had some press up competitions with A.

Our diet included lots of pizzas from the bar below our accommodation, obviously cake and pastries but Fran always makes sure we have plenty of vegetables and salad everyday.

Having a bare minimum that keeps you moving forwards makes being consistent a lot easier which means you get to results quicker and can maintain them for life.
How can you incorporate minimum effective dose to help you achieve your goals and eradicate the stop – start cycle?
