We are looking after a friends dog for the next couple of weeks.
Having a dog in the house again has been a real pick me up for us all.
Something unexpected has happened too, unexpected because we’re an active house already.
My steps have gone up.
Something as simple as a quick walk around the block a few times per day has added a few thousand more and getting the kids out for a walk has been easier.
I’m not suggesting you need to get a dog to increase your activity but finding a way to make activity more rewarding or fun, will increase the likelihood that you do it.
For me, training with friends has always been key. My mate Dean and his daughter turn up 2-3 times per week for a strength circuit, we have a chat and get it done.
I wouldn’t get around to doing it if they weren’t here.
I go to a kung fu class because I get to see my friends, the cardio and training is a bonus.
I go to jiu jitsu because I love trying to learn how it all works and the people I train with; including a couple of my best friends. Again, the fitness side is a bonus of just being there.
If you enjoy what you are doing, it makes it much more likely you will do it, making consistency easy.
And as we know, consistency is the fastest way to results.
There are so many ways to get fit, you really don’t need to make a chore of it.
If you need some help or a plan writing, we’re here for you.
Obviously, me and the kids want a dog. Computer says no. (Fran is the computer).
