It’s time for the Mo to go.
Although looking at the picture, it didn’t really show, definitely showing some blonde and strawberry blonde whiskers mixed in with the salt and pepper. I’m sure it’s more visible in real life.
Since my Dad died 12 years ago, I have only missed one Moustache for Movember, the year I went to Everest base camp and wanted a big David Bellamy style beard to keep me warmer.
My best mate Graham, didn’t miss it though and has rocked it every year.
I know he’s got my back, he can flip my mood in a phone call when I’m feeling down and can level me out when I’m a bit excitable.
We talk about anything and everything, my kids think it’s normal to hear us say “I love you” at the end of the call or meet up because it is and should be for everyone.
They laugh when I answer the phone and say “hey beautiful” but I’m trying to normalise the emotion and language that men can use.
The thing I love most about him though is that he’s been my martial partner for 35 years, we have had some amazing rumbles over the years which have always ended with a tap of the gloves or fists and a hug of appreciation of the effort and intensity of the rounds.
It’s why I have encouraged my kids to take up martial arts, I want them to form the type of friendships you get from being around people that can do that.
