Before our kids moved in, we followed a pretty much “clean” diet, meaning that pretty much everything we ate at home was cooked from scratch.

Things changed rapidly, their priorities took over every aspect of our lives and we had to adjust our plans and how we structured everything we did from a nutrition point of view.

It is still under constant review.

We try to have as much home cooked stuff as possible, occasionally the kids eat some of that too.  We have take a ways, Greggs and a McD’s.

I think we have a pretty good balance and ultimately that’s what it’s all about.

Finding a nutrition plan that helps you feel great without feeling like you can’t visit a friend for fear of a biscuit or go out for a meal.

Yesterday, we took the kids over to the German market in Birmingham for their first time.  I couldn’t turn down the opportunity of a ½ metre long bratwurst and a few churros, I’ll make up for it by having less over the weekend.

I won’t try to do a monster gym session to burn it off because that’s a battle we can ever win.  I’ve estimated the hot dog was around 11-1200 calories, I’d have to run for nearly 2 hours to get any where near that.  It took less than 5 minutes to eat.

Exercise should be to help us feel good and function better in our every day lives, not punish poor but enjoyable food choices.

If you enjoy the food plan and exercise type you do they will be much more sustainable and lead to greater results in the end.

It might just take a little more time but you’re worth it.
