As half term hits us in Coventry and Warwickshire this week, parents have shown how prepared we can be (read Fran can be in our house).

Holidays, flights, multiple activities and play dates, everything gets organised around already busy schedules.

Getting packed for a day out includes going through bags several times to check nothing is missing / extras haven’t been added. Sandwiches and packed lunches flying around all over the place.

Yet, outside of half term, we struggle organise ourselves to do a bit of exercise and eat some extra vegetables.

I think the main reason is we aim for perfect, if we can’t get to the gym or train for an hour, we put it off until we can.  If we can’t prepare the full meal from scratch we settle for something you can put on a tray.

Perfect isn’t a goal you should be aiming for.

Something is better than nothing, I like the “a little better than yesterday” idea.

If you have a tray meal, putting a bit of broccoli on the plate is a portion of veggies.

Doing 10 press ups today is an improvement on yesterday if you didn’t do any.

I’ve said lots of times about finding things you can add in to your life consistently. A 10 minute workout every other day is better than no 60 minute workouts.

A few slices of cucumber on a kebab is better than no salad, obviously you have to eat those slices too 😉

Use some of that half time organisation to work on how to add a little movement and nutrition in to your week.
