On Friday I was on a Zoom session all day and it didn’t feel a chore at any point.
It was the quarterly “meet up” with my coaching group; the theme of the day was better relationships.
My coach brought in Dr John deMartini for a session; he’s a World renowned expert on human behaviour. It was amazing, I had to stop taking notes as just couldn’t pay enough attention to what he was saying and write at the same time.
The main message and the one I have spoken about lots over the past 12 months was how important your relationship with yourself is. Unless you get control over the way you see and speak to yourself, your relationships with others will always be less than they could be.
How often do we berate ourselves, in our heads and out loud? How often do you speak to yourself negatively?
Saying stuff that you would not accept somebody saying to a friend or your children. The subject is irrelevant, shape and fat quite often come in to it though.
We need to spend some time focusing on improving our relationships with ourselves. My coach summed it up by saying – “If you want the mirror to smile, you need to smile first”.
I see how positive a smile can be, my son has a beaming smile and uses it with great affect when ever he meets somebody new. It is immediately returned and it’s almost as if a light switches on in their head.
He’s struggling a bit at the minute with not spending as much time as he wants with Nannie and Grandad but can still turn it on when needed.
Our kids had a different start in life and we spend a lot of time coaching them through some of their thought processes. That their past doesn’t dictate their future.
The big one for all of us – that they are loved, they deserve to be loved and they are good enough.
Read that again with you – YOU are loved, YOU deserve to be loved and You are good enough.
I’ll finish by quoting myself – YOU are the most important person in your life. Now start acting like it.
