I’ve led a pretty adventurous life and as a result I’ve sustained a few injuries.

I’m carrying a couple of reasonable ones at the minute in my knee and shoulder from a cycle crash a while ago.  They are generally ok now but I find I protect the areas when doing some stuff.

On Monday I tweaked my back during a training session; I took it easy for a couple of days, just getting out for walks etc.  Wednesday morning, it was feeling better and I pushed a little bit too hard and tweaked it again; only a little worse.

At times it hurt to sit down, stand up and everything in between. A walk normally loosens me up, it didn’t work.

I tried some mobility and had a soak in an Epsom salts bath; it gave a little relief.

Yesterday, I did the same again and a bit of a stretch before bed.

This morning, I went for a walk again. It was uncomfortable but loosened up as I went.

Tonight, I’ve done a bit of massage and some more mobility.  I had a bit of a run around at the park with the kids this afternoon.

The point I’m making is; gone are the days of total rest to get over injuries.  That can take months to get even a slight improvement.

Take action towards improving your injury, your fitness, your health rather than getting stuck in the resting a nod preparing.

Get out of your own way and start doing stuff.

We all have the ability to make excuses and equally we all have the ability to make a start; it’s your choice which way you go.
