I’ve been a proper grumpy Dad today.
The noice level in the house kept me constantly on the edge, it’s always the same but affected me a lot more today.
Quite simply, I was exhausted. The boy started wiggling and talking from about 3.30am and I couldn’t jump ship to his bed because the girl was still in there.
I tried to have a lie-in when Fran took them downstairs, I just couldn’t get back to sleep.
I tried to have a meditation, it all kicked off in the kitchen over pancakes and I was needed before I really got started.
I tried a bit of exercise, which went really well as a session. It didn’t pick my mood up though.
As a result, I was a bit snappy. The kids are used to me being fun and joining in their silliness. It didn’t seem to bother them though as I did bedtime and they settled straight down.
I sometimes expect too much of myself and that leads to me being disappointed when I don’t meet that standard.
We all have off days. It’s how we move on from them that counts.
My plan is to chill tonight, do some breathing drills and get back on track in the morning.
